Some of those produced in this way, such as Troy Salcedo - a mouse - have had a traumatic time. Sometimes even when you've been hurt, you can find solace in the arms of a kindred spirit.

In the far future year of 2105, Troy Salcedo - a genetically engineered mouse - returns to San Iadras to attend his brother Saigon's wedding. His own relationship, though, is not quite so full of fairytales when he discovers what Jennifer meant when she warned him about 'Open Relationships'.

This follows 'City Mouse' in the continuity of San Iadras.

It was a long way home. Evran had thought that, thousands and thousands of miles away, back in Tajikistan, before things had hit the wall. Home was nearer for Evran now, though. San Iadras was a big city, but not as big as a country. It was a long walk to the Vista Quays, but that wasn't nearly as far as the march over the Gissar mountains into Uzbekistan, freezing every step, afraid of patrols and locals and rain.
